With great excitement and optimism, I welcome you to the start of the inaugural school year at Midland Innovation + Technology Charter School (MITCS)! Although the past few years have been challenging for everyone, we are positioned to provide students with a unique and dynamic curriculum that will better afford exciting career opportunities in the skilled trades and traditional academic fields. We are looking forward to beginning the school year — Tuesday, September 6th — with new beginnings for a new world filled with hope and promise.
It has been “All Hands on Deck” throughout the past few years as our organizing committee, founders, community members, academic team, teachers, industry-skilled experts, and support staff were busy creating and developing the dynamic and engaging curriculum you deserve while planning an exciting and productive year. Also, our teachers and skilled industry experts participated in various virtual Professional Development sessions to prepare students for an exciting academic experience. Our leadership team worked to prepare the Charles J. Betters Innovation Center, the site that houses the MITCS building, IT infrastructure, transportation, and food services, for the start of the new school year. We aim to begin the year with an in-person model; our team and facility are equally prepared for a virtual learning platform if necessary. However, at the core of MITCS are our incredible students!
I am humbled and grateful to the many people who helped contribute to our school’s development from its conception to reality. We are committed to excellence in everything we do. I am aware of the challenges that lie ahead. However, through our collaborative efforts, I am confident we will have an incredible year by ensuring we meet the needs of all our students and families. This is a commitment beginning with me to every colleague at MITCS. We will strive for excellence in everything we do to ensure academic success and overall successful life outcomes for our students.
