Midland Innovation + Technology Charter School embraces an axiom of Diversity by Design in that it welcomes all students from southwestern Pennsylvania to be immersed in a high-tech, career technical education (CTE). Research shows that all students benefit from attending diverse schools, ones that are not segregated by race, socio-economic background, or mental and physical ability.

By working and learning together, students from all backgrounds develop greater cross-racial and cross-cultural understanding, which in turn helps break down stereotypes and decreases bias and prejudice. MITCS is a model for recruiting and serving students from a variety of circumstances to form a more racially, culturally and socio-economically diverse and successful school.
