ATTEND SUMMER CAMP

The Midland Innovation + Technology Charter School (MITCS) is holding a free Pathway Summer Camp for interested students entering grades 7 through 11 in academic year 2023-24. Come and learn more about our exciting Career Pathways, including Gaming + Coding, Aviation Technology, Forensic Science + Justice, Healthcare Innovation, Transportation + Logistics, and Career Technical + Skilled Trades.  Attendees get to choose two programs, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

 

The Pathway Summer Camp will be held at the Charles J. Betters Innovation Center, the ultramodern $8 million facility that houses MITCS. The school features 32,000 square feet of state-of-the-art instructional studios, flexible lab environments for collaborative learning and research, student support spaces, administrative offices, and food service and dining amenities.

Pathway Activities

 

Gaming + Coding 
Students will learn about Esports strategies, how to work in a team environment, and will compete in a gaming tournament. 

 

Aviation Technology 
Students will learn how to handle the drone remote and will fly drones low to the ground and around obstacles. Student will also use a flight simulator.

 

Forensic Science + Justice 

Students will investigate a "crime scene,” test their observation skills, and solve a mystery.

 

Healthcare Innovation 

Student will explore patient simulators to gain a hands-on experience. 

 

Transportation + Logistics 

Students with gain a feel for forklift driving in a warehouse setting with forklift simulators and videos.

 

Career Technical + Skilled Trades 

Students will create a “smack" take home project and view the projects made by MITCS students this past year. For safety reasons, students MUST wear closed toe shoes. 

 

Please Note

  • Pathway availability is on a “first come-first serve” basis. There will be no more than a 10:1 student to teacher ratio. 

  • No transportation will be provided. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to transport each enrolled student.

  • Lunch will be provided for all enrolled students, although students are permitted to bring their own lunch. Please note any food or environmental allergies on your child’s application.

  • Camp arrival time is 8:30 am to 8:50 am. Departure time is  2:00 pm to 2:15pm.

  • The morning session is from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Lunch will be from 11:00 am to noon, and the afternoon session will be from noon to 2:00 pm.

  • Casual attire is acceptable for all Pathway programs, but Career Technology + Skilled Trades students MUST wear closed toe shoes.
